Look for the Christ who has risen

Look for the Christ who has risen thumbnail

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle

Jesus overcame death, which is sin …. Sin is the true death — to be separated from God, for the relationship with God to be severed. Although we are drawing away, He is always pursuing, for us to have life ….

With Jesus’ death, He overcame death. In Jesus’ death, He was not the one killed. It is in His death that he overcame death, he overcame the distance with God because He died while communicating with God. That is why in His resurrection, His life is the life of God, for God ….

In baptism, our sinful selves are already dead and when Jesus rose again, we are a new being —alive in God, as His child, as a brother of Christ, as a temple of the Holy Spirit ….

That is why we remember the promise in baptism, that we are dead to sin and are living for God. Dead in sin, alive in God ….  In baptism, our sinful selves are already dead and when Jesus rose again, we are a new being — alive in God, as His child, as a brother of Christ, as a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Who are we looking for? Are we looking for Christ who lives again in our everyday lives? Why are we looking for tombs? Look for the Christ who has risen.

Are we looking for Jesus that has risen in those who have no food to eat? In those who are thirsty? In those who have no mats? In those who have no shelter? Who are we looking for? Let us look for Him, let us not look for death, let us look for Him who has risen.
